Round Robin
Contrary to popular belief, pirates were governed by a code and it was an inescapable requirement to sign a document known as "Round Robin". The purpose of this system was to avoid being identified and held accountable. Instead of signing one under the other, they did it in a circle. In this way it was almost impossible to determine who signed first or last therefore responsibility fell on all or none.
